Local Places to Visit

There are many interesting places in close proximity to Basildon. The closest is obviously the National Trust property, Basildon Park, which lies directly between Upper and Lower Basildon and featured in the 2005 film adaptation of "Pride & Prejudice". By the river in Lower Basildon is Beale Park which is full of unusual animals and is a great place for children. If you fancy trying your hand at clay pigeon shooting then why not visit the Royal Berkshire Shooting School on Hook End Lane between Upper and Lower Basildon. Just down the road in Pangbourne there's a water sports centre called Adventure Dolphin and in Hampstead Norreys there's the Living Rainforest. What about Berkshires best kept secret, Bucklebury Farm Park or visit the wolves in Beenham at The UK Wolf Conservation Trust? For rail enthusiasts, The Didcot Railway Centre is only 10 miles away.
